Fatahillah Museum

Museum Fatahillah which also is known as Museum Sejarah Jakarta or Museum Batavia is a museum which located in Jalan Taman Fatahillah No. 2, Jakarta Barat broadly more than 1300 m2. This building formerly Stadhuis or City hall, built in the year 1707-1710 to Van Champion Governor General command Hoorn. Balai kota building similar to Istana Dam in Amsterdam, consisted of main building with two wings in part of east and occidental and building sits side by side applied as office, court room, and underground spaces used as prison. On 30 March 1974, this building then opened as Museum Fatahillah.


Objects which can be met in this museum for example journey of history of Jakarta, omission replica a period of Tarumanegara and Pajajaran, result of dig of archaeology in Jakarta, antique furniture started from century ke-17 to 19, which is solidarity from Europe style, Republic People of China, and Indonesia. Besides, in Museum Fatahillah also there is ex- underground prison that is formerly has time to be applied at colonization epoch of Dutch.
